Support Doesn’t Always Have to Come in Human Form
For many veterans, the physical and psychological wounds of service run deep and can leave daily life feeling overwhelming. Treatments can help manage symptoms, but support often needs to go beyond appointments and prescriptions. Sometimes the difference can come from companionship and purpose that only a pet can provide to restore confidence, create routines, and offer a sense of control.
That kind of support can:
- Lower stress and anxiety
- Reduce symptoms of PTSD and depression
- Improve emotional regulation
- Encourage healthy routines, responsibility, and connection
- Build confidence in navigating everyday life
Now Available in Select Markets: Battle Buddies
The Purple Heart Foundation along with Sponsor-A-Pet has launched the Battle Buddies Companion Animal Program in select markets. Click to learn more.
Help us fund this program today, so we can get more animals in the hands (and laps!) of veterans needing help with establishing routine and purpose.
Robotic Pets
Robotic therapy pets offer a powerful alternative for veterans who may not be able to care for a live animal due to physical, financial, or housing limitations.
These lifelike companions provide soothing interaction, especially for veterans facing:
- Memory issues or cognitive decline
- Loneliness or emotional withdrawal
- Limited mobility or independent living situations
We’re proud to be partners in programs like Capital Caring Health’s Robotic Pets initiative, and are actively seeking more partnerships in this growing field.
Capital Caring Health sells robotic companion pets, and for every one sold, they donate to the Purple Heart Foundation. You can buy one for yourself and a family member or friend, or you can purchase one to donate to a veteran.
