Providing Vets Training and Access to the Commercial Drone Industry
The Purple Heart Foundation is excited to announce our partnership with Veteran-Owned Vets To Drones, a revolutionary program that prepares veterans to enter the commercial drone industry by providing free resources and training to current industry standards. Graduates are Part 107 Certified and tested to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
For active duty transitioning veterans and veterans seeking a new or different career paths, and veterans living with disabilities, this is an incredible opportunity to explore as the need for drone pilots is only growing throughout the country.
The FREE Vets to Drones Apprenticeship Program (VDAP) is a three phase program where candidates with little to no drone experience get the training they need that culminates in flying real-world missions in the mountains of NC. At the end of the apprenticeship, participants are fully-trained and certified to pursue almost any path in the commercial drone industry.
Vets To Drones was founded and led by Marine Veteran, Chris Lewis. After graduating from North Carolina State University, he embarked on a journey from North Carolina to California to start his own drone venture.
Upon returning to NC, Chris realized the challenges veterans face in entering the commercial drone industry without guidance from someone with insider knowledge. That’s why he created Vets to Drones — to help veterans break into the industry and build a community of like-minded individuals seeking opportunities to earn money by flying drones.
