The Purple Heart Foundation is proud to partner with the VMHA (Veteran Mental Health Assessment), a groundbreaking organization dedicated to providing veterans with accessible, high-quality mental health evaluations and resources for a flat fee.
- VMHA helps veterans who have been incorrectly denied, underrated, or are filing for the first time receive the mental health benefits they deserve.
- We provide medical evidence that helps veterans win their mental health claims and increase their quality of life.
Seventy percent of veterans are not receiving the mental health compensation and support they deserve. Many who apply for VA benefits are often denied due to a lack of an accurate diagnosis or errors in the submitted evidence.
VMHA was founded by Dwayne Edwards, Captain, U.S. Marine Corps. He deployed to Iraq in 2008 as an infantry platoon commander and ended his service as an intelligence officer at the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA). He knows firsthand the anxiety veterans feel when thinking about seeking mental health support. As a suicide awareness officer, he increased the awareness of suicide warning signs to help service members recognize them as cries for help and not as signs of weakness. VMHA’s co-founder, Dr. Aquilla Edwards, Head of Psychology, and Dwayne’s wife, works to oversee the assessment process.
VA Claims and the Right Mental Health Diagnosis
Too often, veterans face barriers to care, whether it’s long wait times, lack of awareness, or difficulty navigating the VA system. Through this partnership with VMHA, we’re breaking down these barriers and ensuring that no veteran is left behind when getting the right mental health diagnosis, the recommended rating based on VA criteria, a Nexus statement, and additional letters and support for your claim.
