On National Purple Heart Day, August 7th, 2020, the Purple Heart Foundation will be launching a new and improved website! We’ll be in the same place we’ve always been, but after August 7th, when you visit www.purpleheartfoundation.org you’re in for a completely new experience! The website has been outfitted with a modern look and easy navigation for your convenience. Speaking of convenience… to answer some frequently asked questions we’ve added information on the following topics for easy accessibility, including:
- A Purple Heart timeline
- Employee match programs
- Volunteering
- Fundraising
- And more!
We’ve also added new photos, videos and testimonials from some of the veterans we have helped over the years thanks to the generosity of supporters like you!
With this blog however, there are 2 completely brand-new concepts we want to highlight and better explain for you!
#1: Peer 2 Peer Fundraising.
This is the opportunity for you to create a landing page for your fundraising event right from our website and then share it with your friends and family to help you fundraise! So many people ask how to run an event that would benefit combat-wounded veterans, how to connect their GoFundMe page to the foundation and what types of verbiage to use when promoting their events. Now, when you go to the Get Involved page on the new website, you can click on the type of event you want to create, follow the step by step instructions and start fundraising! Share your fundraiser with friends and family via email, social media, text message and even automatically turn it into a Facebook event with the click of a button.
Whether you’re hosting a digital fundraiser, selling tickets for a live event, raising funds for a 5k team or asking for donations in-lieu of flowers for a veteran’s memorial, the Peer 2 Peer feature will make your fundraising efforts easier than ever. Everything in your fundraiser will have default settings that are completely customizable by the event host (that’s you). You can change your fundraising goal, your team or event name, photo, and description.
The best part is that you never have to worry about connecting bank accounts, counting cash, or mailing checks. When someone gives to your fundraiser, their online payment will automatically be processed through our secure payment processor on the Purple Heart Foundation website. All approved donations will then immediately be applied to funding for veteran programs. So, all you have to do is focus on running a successful event!
#2: Crowdfunding
This new feature allows you to pick which program or service your donation will fund! When you click on the Services page, just click on the program or service that interests you most and you’ll now be able to donate directly to it. For example, do you believe in the healing and assistance a service dog can provide for a combat-wounded veteran? Make your donation directly to the Service Dog Fund…. Or do you believe in affordable education for all? Give to the Academic Scholarship Fund to give veterans and their family members a brighter future. And if you don’t want to donate to a specific program, you can always click the Donate button to give unrestricted funds so that we can put your gift where it’s needed most!
To help us kickstart fundraising on the new website and honor our nation’s combat wounded veterans, we urge you to visit www.purpleheartfoundation.org on National Purple Heart Day (August 7th) and make a gift of $25, $50, $100, or more.
We can’t thank you enough for helping make these changes possible through your support and generosity over the years! THANK YOU!
